Our story

Retro New Zealand made men’s shirts, proudly patterned, cut, sewn and finished here in Mahurangi, New Zealand. At Mo Cullen Shirtsmith we are on a mission to eradicate the navy check shirt, one at a time.

After many years of being behind the scenes in the manufacturing and production side of the fashion industry, Mo Cullen had long felt that the world of mens shirts needed a bit of a 'zhush' up!  Stumbling across a selection of amazing cotton prints was the spark that lit the fire - and Mo Cullen Shirtsmith was born.  

Mo Cullen has an eye for picking quirky and colourful prints and uses natural fibres and products wherever possible.  Mo Cullen shirts are all made from 100% shirt weight cotton with buttons made from coconut husks.   Many of the prints are uniquely New Zealand, harking back to the nostalgia of summer holidays spent at campgrounds, Pohutukawas in full bloom, Tui's and the good old kiwi bach. 

Mo Cullen shirts are constructed just north of Auckland, at her workroom in Mahurangi West.  A team of very talented individuals are her 'engine room'. Mo is very proud of the fact that they are a high quality, New Zealand made product, and no shirt leaves the workroom without the once over from Mo herself.
