Our story
At Mo Cullen Shirtsmith, we make handcrafted New Zealand shirts for people who want to wear something with personality. Shirts that spark conversations. Shirts that get remembered. Shirts that feel like you.

After many years working behind the scenes in fashion design, manufacturing, and production, Mo Cullen had developed something that couldn’t be ignored, an eye for quality, a passion for craftsmanship, and a belief that men’s shirts deserved better.
What started with discovering a collection of incredible cotton prints quickly became something bigger. Inspired by vintage style, retro nostalgia, quirky prints, and classic New Zealand summers, every fabric is chosen with one goal making shirts with more personality.
Drawing on years of experience designing, creating, and producing garments, Mo shares that knowledge through every shirt, combining thoughtful design, quality construction, carefully chosen fabrics, and an obsession with the details that make a great shirt feel different.
Being proudly New Zealand made isn’t simply part of the brand story, it is the point.
Every shirt is designed, cut, sewn and finished in Mahurangi using premium natural fibres and materials chosen to last. From 100% shirt-weight cotton right down to buttons made from coconut husks. Crafted in small batches with limited fabric runs and never mass produced, helping keep your shirt as individual as you are.
Built for workdays, weddings, long lunches, good yarns, weekends away, and everyday moments worth dressing properly for.
No shirt leaves the workroom without Mo’s final check. Because when you care this much about making shirts, details matter.
